December 10, how it rained! However, we were determined that the festive season should be well celebrated on Chandos Rd, aided by the Teddy Nativity scene, with the additional aim to raise some money for St Peter’s Hospice.
Father Christmas put in an appearance at our Christmas market in Chums, where landlord Mark made everyone most welcome, dispensing mulled cider and good cheer and local a cappella group Partsong serenaded us with carols.
Over hot soup from Mabel’s Greengrocer, customers perused stalls selling lovely glass and jewellery and a wood turner, all ideal for Christmas present shopping.
And there was the Great Chandos Mince Pie Bake Off! Competition was fierce, judges awarding marks for presentation and taste.
The well deserved winner was Lilly with her winning combo of mincemeat with brownie topping. Later in the afternoon we assembled under the canopy at No Man’s Grace to sing carols, aided by their mulled cider and Redland Bakery’s mince pies. During the day we raised £105 for St Peter’s Hospice, while getting well into the spirit of Christmas!
